“Reimagining the way people play. It’s what we do and it’s the vision for the next chapter in Whistler Blackcomb’s story. This is the Whistler Blackcomb Renaissance—an unprecedented investment merging nature and innovation to reveal a whole new way to play in our mountains; year-round, regardless of the weather.” – renaissance.whistlerblackcomb.com

Today Whistler Blackcomb Holdings Inc. (WB) announced a three stage development plan called “Renaissance.”  The first phase ($90 – $100m) of the plan involves the new “Watershed” facility for indoor recreation and training, emphasizing Whistler’s roles in both developing athletes and providing family experiences to guests, and an expansion of the resort’s Bike Park into the Creekside Area with trails for all ability levels.  The Watershed will also bring water sports to the resort in what we expect will be a uniquely Whistler manner, with waves, rope-swings, and caves designed for rainy-day fun year round.  By phase two ($105 – $115m), two ski in/ ski out real estate projects are added to the area near Blackcomb’s upper base.  Phase three ($140 – $150m) sees moves to bring vibrancy to Whistler’s upper village.  We’re stoked on the possibility of surfing in Whistler, even if it is inside.
